Star Wars fans just got their first official glimpse at Forest Whitaker’s return as Saw Gerrera in the upcoming Disney+ series thanks to the latest teaser for Andor from Lucasfilm. Saw Gerrera appears to be collaborating with Luthen, played by Stellan Skarsgrd, and Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna. The trailer is narrated by Skarsgrd’s Luthen, who declares that he needs “all the heroes I can get.”
As Gerrera then says Luthen, “For the greater good,” the trailer then switches to Whitaker in the role. Name it anything you like, Luthen replies, to which Gerrera audaciously says, “Let’s call it… war.” In the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Whitaker debuted as Saw Gerrera and Cassian Andor, both played by Luna.
In the television show Star Wars Rebels and the computer game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Whitaker made a comeback to voice the part. As the brother of the rebel commander of the Onderon people, Saw Gerrera made his television debut in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In The Clone Wars and Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Andrew Kishino provided the character’s voice.
Andor presents a fresh viewpoint of the Star Wars universe while taking place five years before the events of Rogue One and concentrating on the growing revolt against the Empire. The television show will examine Cassian Andor’s transformation into the rebel hero depicted in the 2016 Star Wars picture and promises to be full of peril, deceit, and intrigue.
Luna has already stated that Cassian’s transformation into a hero won’t be simple. Regarding his title role, Luna remarked, “We find him in a moment where he’s unaware of how capable he is of evolving, or being a part of change, or carrying out such a sacrifice, but he is the guy that comes out of battling since he was six years old. “He is a really intriguing, dark, and wounded individual. You won’t believe him when he performs the actions in Rogue One.”
Additionally, Andor resurrects Mon Mothma
Whitaker, Luna, and Mon Mothma, the co-founder and head of the Rebel Alliance played by Genevieve O’Reilly, are among the confirmed cast members of Andor. The role was originally played by Caroline Blakiston in the 1983 film Return of the Jedi. O’Reilly first played the part in Revenge of the Sith in 2005 and reprised it in Rogue One. The actor revealed in a recent interview that the next series delves more deeply into Mon Mothma’s past, and he seemed delighted to be making a comeback for Andor. “Now is our time to learn more about the woman. She used to be somewhat of a pillar, or perhaps a statue, “said O’Reilly. I like how we can now go a little further and discover more about the person — the woman, if you will, behind the garment.
