Tears of The Kingdom Release Date

On May 12, 2023, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released. Predictably for a first-party Nintendo game, it will only be available on the Nintendo Switch line of consoles.

Nintendo extended the release date of Tears of the Kingdom from 2022 to 2023 in March of 2022, with series producer Eiji Aonuma citing a wish to stretch development time a bit as the reason. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available for preorder.

Tears of The Kingdom Gameplay

It is evident from the available trailers that the sky will play a significant role in Tears of the Kingdom. A link has been observed free-falling, utilizing a novel glider, and riding on the backs of winged creatures. The link appears to have the ability to ascend through clouds and other objects, facilitating vertical exploration. In the most recent trailer, we even saw the form of a flying vehicle.

Tears of the Kingdoms gameplay mechanics may be revealed by Nintendos three patent applications. The three patents have been registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization, as discovered by GameReactor (WIPO).

Each patent includes a schematic of potential Link abilities for Tears of the Kingdom. For instance, the first patent describes the ability to perform a specific action while a character is falling, such as firing a specified object. The diagram in the patent depicts a character falling through the air with their arms wide open, which is eerily similar to Links position in the E3 2021 teaser at approximately 25 seconds.

Time manipulation also looks to be a major motif in Tears of the Kingdom. In the clip linked above this section, Link is shown clutching onto a rising boulder. According to appearances, the boulder is reversing its downward direction. Time manipulation was also utilized in the very first teaser. As luminous particles drifted closer toward an ominous green light, it was evident that the music was being played backward.

Overall, we havent seen much gameplay for Tears of the Kingdom, so its probable that Nintendo is holding back until launch. As additional information becomes available, this page will be updated.
