The Boys’ third season may have ended, but fans need not worry—or wait impatiently!—because Season Four is already in the works. We won’t have to wait long to see characters like Hughie, Starlight, Billy Butcher, and others grace our screens once more.
The renewal was confirmed via a tweet sent out in June by the show’s web page. And while for some that were welcome news, it wasn’t for everyone, as the most recent run of episodes earned both positive and negative responses from viewers and critics.
The satirical superhero program has been a great hit for Amazon Prime and has already aired for three seasons, so a renewal isn’t exactly unexpected. We also enjoy a comeback! We’ll just have to wait to see, then observe and judge, for the time being.
The Boys Season 4 Cast
The season three finale of The Boys included a number of characters who were on the verge of passing away, but only one of them really did. We’re regrettably referring to Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell), whose intestines were ripped out by Homelander and who won’t be back for another season (Antony Starr).
It is unknown if Dominique McElligott will return to the character of Queen Maeve, despite the fact that she did not die suddenly in it. Although her character arc appears to have ended (more on that below), we sincerely hope to see her on the call sheet.
The following cast members are those we do anticipate seeing in The Boys season 4:
- As Hughie Campbell Jr., Jack Quaid
- Mother’s Milk, played by Laz Alonso (MM)
- As Serge Frenchie, Tomer Capone
- As Kimiko Miyashiro, Karen Fukuhara
- Starlight/Annie January is played by Erin Moriarty.
- As Homelander, Antony Starr
- As The Deep, Chace Crawford
- Jessie T Usher serves as A-Train
- Ryan is played by Cameron Crovetti.
- As Stan Edgar, Giancarlo Esposito
- As Ashley Barrett, Colby Minifie
- Victoria Neuman is portrayed by Claudia Doumit.
The Boys Season 4 Release Date
On July 8, season three of The Boys came to a close. Although a fourth season of the show was already in the works, there haven’t been many details on when it could air.
Soon after announcing that filming for the upcoming season will commence in August, Karl Urban informed fans that it would. He said: “I suppose August 22, we’re going to be starting season four. So, I’m returning and turning on my Butcher once again, and I can’t wait.
It’s a great group to play with. We put in a lot of effort and a lot of play, and I’m excited to see where they take the characters after we wrap up this season.
Urban’s information turned out to be very accurate, even down to the date. Because the season four premiere screenplay, titled “Department of Dirty Tricks,” seemed to be shared on Instagram on August 22 by showrunner Eric Kripke. The caption that accompanied it stated, “Day One.
The Boys Season 4 Plot
Based on several significant revelations from the third season finale, we have some educated estimates. The first concern is Ryan’s position between Homeland and Billy the Butcher. In the epilogue, Ryan (the child of Homelander and Butcher’s ex-wife Becca) decides to support Homelander rather than Butcher. But the boy’s future remains uncertain; to put it more simply, will he become corrupted?
In the most recent episode, Ryan is one of several viewers who cheers when a Homelander assassinates a Starlight supporter in the open while wearing a smile on his face. Given that Butcher promised Becca that he would keep Ryan safe, there is still so much to be discovered in this area—especially given the fact that Butcher now has just about 18 months to live.
Luckily for us, Eric Kripke, the show’s creator, talked openly about what to anticipate from the storyline in the upcoming season. According to him, “A lot of the season will be a war over Ryan,” since if Homelander succeeds in rearing and influencing the children, it will essentially create a second Homelander with dire consequences.
