Mako Mermaids Season 5 Release Date: Confirmation on Renewal or Cancellation!

Mako Mermaids Season 5: Long before Disney opted to recreate a renowned mermaid in its impending live-action version of The Little Mermaid, a small Australian production was hard at work spinning its own mermaid narrative. A spin-off of H2O: Just Add Water, Mako Mermaids, gives its mermaids legs while they are on land, but keeps the traditional mermaid themes of conflicting emotions between being in the water and being on land, along with the amiable characters.

In contrast to H2O: Just Add Water, which centers on three human ladies who unintentionally become mermaids, Mako Mermaids (known as Mako: Island of Secrets in Australia) travels back to the enchanted Mako Island to transform young Zac (Chai Hansen) into a merman.

When is the release date of Mako Mermaids season 5?

There is currently no information on whether Mako Mermaids will return for a fifth season. The term “fifth season” is really a bit misleading because the program actually only has three seasons because Netflix broke season 2 into two parts. As a result, the figures on Netflix differ from those elsewhere. All of that won’t matter, though, if the show isn’t renewed for further episodes.

Since the final episodes aired in 2016, there haven’t been much developments in that area. H2O: Just Add Water creator Jonathan M. Shiff tweeted in 2015 that there will be a movie after season 4, however production on that movie appears to have been put on hold indefinitely. Shiff is now working on season 2 of The Bureau of Magical Things, which recently received a trailer.

What is the plot of Mako Mermaids season 5?

Zac and Mimmi’s mother, Nerissa (Tasneem Roc), was revealed to be the water dragon attacking them at the end of Season 4 after being magically cursed into that shape. A fifth season would have enough of material to go through about her connection with her children after she joined the show. It also seems sense that the show would explore their father’s past and perhaps bring him back at that point.

Without a doubt, the authors could investigate the struggle between Nerissa and the pod while giving the narrative a magical touch. With the mermen, there is more to discover, especially once Zac and Mimmi learn more from Nerissa. However, a more ecologically concerned plot might be an intriguing approach to explore given that the characters are mermaids in Australia. The series would unquestionably become more contemporary and pertinent to the present year.

Mako Mermaids season 5 cast: who’s who?

Through the seasons, the ensemble expanded and took on a variety of roles, with the first season concentrating on rookie merman Zac and the three mermaids Sirena (Amy Ruffle), Nixie (Ivy Latimer), and Lyla (Lucy Fry). Mermaids Mimmi (Allie Bertram) and Ondina (Isabel Durant) stayed in the series while Nixie and Lyla left.

Mako Mermaids would be able to get away with a few cast changes in a potential second season because people have come and gone, but star Hansen would have to remain. Following the conclusion of Mako Mermaids in 2016, he has been kept busy with appearances on other series including Shadowhunters and The New Legends of Monkey.

The mermaid sister Mimmi and her new lover Chris, as well as Hansen’s fiancée Evie (Gemma Forsyth) and lifelong buddy Cam (Dominic Deutscher), will all be making a comeback with him, as will the viewers (Taylor Glockner). Maybe they’ll invite an H2O: Just Add Water guest star, like they did with Rikki (Cariba Heine of The Secrets She Keeps) toward the end of Season 4.
