After news surfaced that Minajs smash hit Super Freaky Girl wouldnt be nominated for any rap categories at the 2023 Grammy Awards, the two rappers have been trading barbs on social media since yesterday (October 13). On the other hand, Big Energy, a song by Latto, is said to be nominated for a Grammy in the rap category. There seemed to be more friction between the two artists as a result of this apparent norm.
Minaj had been complaining on Instagram Live and Twitter about not being nominated in any rap categories when she issued an ultimatum that if Lattos Big Energy also wasnt going to be nominated in any rap categories, then neither should Super Freaky Girl.
She exclaimed, Big Energy needs to have 2B moved out RAP if SFG does. A troll or Nicki hater is ANY1 who says diff.

When a fan submitted a screenshot of Latto referring to Big Energy as a pop tune, Minaj quoted the tweet in her own. The user also embedded a video of Latto singing about being in her pop bag. Nickis response was a simple Yikes.

Minaj thought she had every right to react angrily to the announcement that she had been nominated for a Grammy, stating, Could you imagine someone telling you not to complain about being treated unfairly at work? My responsibilities include doing just this. I put in a lot of long hours at work. Just like in a 9-to-5 job, if you feel like youre being deliberately undermined, you need to stand up for yourself.

After a few minutes, Latto supposedly chimed in with, Damn I cant win for losing All these nominations and accolades and I cant even rejoice. Recently (Oct. 13), it was revealed that Latto had been nominated for many American Music Awards, with Big Energy being nominated for Favorite Hip-Hop Song.

Even though they may have started out trying to have a private talk, the two ended up having a public exchange of words. Nicki Minaj initially uploaded a screenshot of a direct message (DM) that Latto allegedly sent her, captioning it with the words Karen and scratch off.
Then Latto quoted Minaj to show that the tweet was directed at her: 1st of all I texted u coz I didnt want to do the internet sht w sum1 I looked up to. And she went on, Just like the very first time I direct messaged you asking about your recurring subtweets. I wanted to say something because, as I said, I do agree, but the manner youre going about it feels malevolent, especially considering how we left off, she added.

After that, Latto tweeted on her own, calling Nicki a bully by name. Since March, Ive ignored innumerable subtweets in favor of direct messaging (dm) with you. So, you want to know why I kept quiet instead of defending you? You already know the reason I didnt offer my congratulations when you asked me. Actually, youre older than my mom and youre trying to pick on me, @NICKIMINAJ.

After Latto made fun of her age, Minaj fired back with a quote tweet: All this time I thought you were at least 35.
Then Latto referenced an old Minaj tweet that she took to be a subtle jab against her. A 40yroldbully hashtag was added to her post.

Minaj swiftly fired back, claiming the tweet was about a TikTok creator and had nothing to do with Latto.
She said, Im sure the Barbz have receipts. She sent me two songs that I denied to do features on, and that alone proves she made up these subtweets in her imagination. This is something that every one of them does. (For the next tweet, see below.)
Minaj then took another swing at Latto, accusing her of ageism and bringing up the 24,000 copies sold in the first week of Lattos most recent album. Im assuming your sales totaled twenty thousand dollars. Rapper and singer Minaj put pen to paper. You failed miserably. This is why youve been so enraged.
After calling Latto a Karen again, Minaj went down on the sales jab by saying, They black when its helpful chi, referring to the Big Energy rappers spray tan.

Latto did not address Minajs diss at her sales or skin tone, but instead circled back to Nickis denial of the initial charges made against her in the subtweet. Latto published a number of tweet screenshots that, in her opinion, demonstrate that Minaj has previously subtweeted her.

For good measure, Latto included several screenshots purportedly showing Nicki direct messaging a fan who had tweeted about Latto.

Conversely, Minaj chose to present a different tale concerning Latto. Nicki used many tweets to share a series of screenshots in which she claims Latto repeatedly begged for a feature from her and each time Nicki politely declined.
Introducing Latto as scratch off, she said, Every word from scratch off is about a feature. Every time, I chose to be courteous. She wont name names, but scratch off thinks she has influence with a few different white males. After I turned down three features, she immediately wrote me a message, which I will reveal in my next tweet.

Minajs subsequent tweet featured a DM from Latto that appeared to allude to an incident in which Latto felt slighted by Nicki. An entitled Karen who blames others for her album tanking, as Minaj put it in the caption, is what she called her.
To counter Minajs final DM screenshot, Latto published a slew of other DMs in which she pressed the rap star to explain her animosity for Latto.
Latto went on to add that the conflict between her and Nicki went beyond a disagreement over the Grammys.

Minajs relatives were then brought up by Latto, who said: Super crazy grandma is matted AND related to fucking rapists. You wont intimidate this BITCH.
Minajs husband, Kenneth Petty, was incarcerated for over four years beginning in 1995 after being convicted of first-degree attempted rape in connection with an incident involving a 16-year-old female in 1994.
Minajs brother, Jelani Maraj, was found guilty of predatory sexual assault on a minor and endangering the welfare of a child, and he was given a sentence of 25 years to life in jail.

Minaj reacted to Latto pulling her family into the feud by naming some of the Big Energy rappers problematic activities, including his history with Kodak Black and Dr. Luke.

Later, Latto brought up Nickis tweets regarding their direct messages, in which she repeatedly urged Minaj to be featured. She claimed Minaj was exaggerating the situation because Nicki wasnt included in one of her tracks.
Responding to Nickis tweet, Latto offered to upload the reference tracks Nicki requested.
