Al Michaels Quips that He May Retire if The Commanders-Bears Game Resembles the Colts-Broncos Game

The Colts and Broncos had a terrible game on Thursday night, and Al Michaels expressed what we were all thinking. Al, one of the greatest announcers in the history of any sport, had no desire to broadcast tonights Commanders-Bears game.

Michaels stated during an appearance on Waddle & Silvy on ESPN Chicago, via BarrettSportsMedia.com, that he may retire if the teams performance on Thursday is not improved. Ive officiated close to 800 NFL games, and with all due respect, I appreciate that the players are trying, as do we all, but it was dreadful.

Indeed it was. And as a result, we are all anticipating another dreadful game tonight at Soldier Field. Nonetheless, we believe Al is kidding about his comeback if Week Six is as awful as Week Five.

Michaels stated, It was an awful performance and a poor game. Hopefully, that was an isolated incident.

Michaels stated during the second half of Thursdays game that occasionally a game may be so horrible that its good. Al was correct, although Kirk Herbstreit disagreed. It became intriguing to observe something so negative persist in its negativity.

And there was an ultimate payout. In overtime, the Broncos offense had a chance to win the game but, consistent with the rest of the game, failed to produce.

Hopefully, the game tonight will deliver. Remember that by February, when over a third of the season will have passed, well be pining for Thursday night NFL games. Even if its a poor example.
