The Act Man Controversy: The issue surrounding The Act Man’s video on YouTube has caused quite a stir

The Act Man Controversy: The outrage of The Act Man’s online fans is shown by the hashtag #JusticeForActMan on Twitter and a Change.org petition. For those who don’t know what’s going on, we explain the ongoing fight and what it might mean for YouTube’s rules on what can be posted.

The Act Man and Quantum TV have been fighting over content since April 2022, when Act Man posted a video criticizing Quantum for what Act Man said was too much use of YouTube’s copyright claim policy. From there, things got worse and worse until Act Man’s whole YouTube channel was banned and is now in danger of being deleted.

After a series of scary tweets, the YouTuber’s fans came together to support him and protest what they saw as the platform’s “consent of inaction to freely attack other users’ channels and livelihoods.”

Fans of TheActMan think that YouTuber Quantum TV is unfairly picking on him. They say that Quantum TV launched a counterattack in response to what they thought was criticism. In a video posted on April 10, Act Man used short clips made by his gaming friends, like Quantum, to question what they thought about the game Elden Ring.

Act Man’s critiques of a few arguments were on the video, and he also talked over the footage.

Quantum TV responded to what he thought was criticism by reporting the video for copyright infringement. He then posted a series of 30-minute videos with titles like “The Actman Threatened to Kill Me” and “Quantum TV vs Act Man The Ugly Truth” on his own channel.

“Works of commentary, criticism, research, teaching, or news reporting may be considered fair use, but it depends on the situation,” says YouTube’s fair use policy.

The Act Man tried to appeal the ban, but it was denied. He then made a video saying that Quantum used YouTube’s copyright claims system to get back at him. A few days after the video came out, Act Man said on Twitter that Quantum TV got his personal information and called his mother to complain about TheActMan’s latest video:

“Quantum TV is trying to hurt me and my family,” TheActMan said. He also said that Quantum contacted his mother and said, “We don’t want families to get hurt or involved in this.”

In a video posted on April 27, Quantum told his side of the story

TheActMan posted another video about his ongoing fight with Quantum on June 1. A cucumber seemed to be Photoshopped near Quantum’s mouth in a still from a video. This allowed Quantum to report it as “suggestive sexual content” under YouTube’s rules.

Because of this, the video was taken down and TheActMan channel was banned from making money for a week. Yesterday, when the strike ended, the creator was told that his channel could be shut down. His most recent update says that he and his YouTube partner are talking about the situation and that all video plans have been “put on hold” for now.

Who is The Act Man?

The Act Man, whose real name is Kelly Van Achte, is a content creator who is best known for his reviews of video games, especially Call of Duty and Halo. Why Is Call of Duty: WWII SO BAD?!, a video he posted on YouTube in 2017, went viral and made Van Achte a YouTube star.

The video was part of a larger series called “Why (game name) is so bad/good/forgettable” and so on. These are some of TheActMan’s most-watched videos, but he has recently started to add commentary to some of his videos as well.

Fans don’t know much about Van Achte’s personal life, but we do know that he was born on June 9, that he has a brother who likes games as much as he does, and that he might have a girlfriend he met while bowling a few years ago. The Act Man, his YouTube channel, started in January 2013. It has 1.5 million subscribers and is in danger of being deleted because of a series of controversial decisions made by YouTube.
