12 August 1992, Cara Jocelyn Delevingne was born in Hammersmith, London, England. Her parents are property developer Charles Hamar Delevingne and model Pandora Anne (née Stevens). She grew raised with her two elder sisters, Chloe and Poppy, in Belgravia, London. Alex Jaffe is her half-brother by her father.

Cara Delevingne attended Francis Holland School for Girls and Bedales School in Steep, Hampshire, before finally skipping out at age 17 to pursue a modeling career like her sister Poppy. In 2009, she became an employee of Storm Management. However, her early years as a model were anything from plain sailing. She worked in the business for a year before securing a salaried position, and she went through two seasons of castings before landing her first runway show.
