Andi Mack Controversy: Stoney Westmoreland, star of the Disney Channel’s “Andi Mack,” was sentenced to prison for a sexual offense involving a minor

Andi Mack Controversy: The 52-year-old former star of “Andi Mack” was arrested in December 2018 after he allegedly tried to meet up with a person he thought was 13 years old. He was first charged with six felonies: one second-degree felony count of enticing a minor by Internet or text, four third-degree felony counts of dealing in materials harmful to a minor, and one third-degree felony count of trying to sexually exploit a minor. However, he made a deal with prosecutors in early June.

Stoney Westmoreland pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of using interstate facilities to send information about a minor. In addition to his prison time and supervised release, the Breaking Bad actor agreed to help collect his DNA, let his computer devices be searched and inspected at random, and give information about all the accounts he uses for communication or storage, such as email and social media.

Westmoreland will also have to register as a sex offender and can’t have any contact with people under 18 without an adult present. After his arrest in late 2018, the actor from Star Trek: Voyager was fired from his job on Andi Mack. Westmoreland played Andi’s grandfather, Henry “Ham” Mack, on the sitcom.

He was in the middle of filming season 3 when he was arrested. Westmoreland has also been on Gilmore Girls, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Better Call Saul, and Scandal over the course of his career. Disney said at the time, “Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the well-being of minors who work for us, we have released him from his recurring role, and he will not be returning to work on the series, which will finish filming its third season next week.”

At the time, Salt Lake City prosecutors said that Westmoreland had talked to a police officer’s Grindr account. The officer said that the actor then “started talking to someone he thought was 13 years old and asked if the person would come to his hotel room and have sexual activity with him.” Westmoreland is also said to have used a ridesharing service to meet someone he thought was a minor and bring them back to his hotel. He also sent sexually explicit photos to the account.
